About
This is Kim Ju-ran, an artist who draws with a technique of expressing in three dimensions by rolling paper or cutting it into small pieces.
In my work, I use the persona panda I set as a tool to recall memories in various ways to capture my own universe. I am working with the inspiration of the mother panda growing up through a series of processes such as childbirth, parenting, and independence like humans.
Just as stars and stars are becoming distant due to the expansion of the universe, relationships between human beings, family members, friends, and colleagues become distant over time. I think it is a virtual space called memories that narrows down the distance. I hope it will be an opportunity to overcome relationships and receive comfort through the time of memories I draw.
In the background of the story of the artist's childhood and the moment he raised his daughter, he tried to express the theme through the technique of attaching paper to express the theme, the bamboo leaves that give life to the panda, and the stars representing dreams such as the essence of life that the artist thinks, and to give depth to the painting by using the three-dimensional effect and the shadow of paper on the plane.
From your cute story that you want to carry in your pocket, to the story of successful swing by yourself, the story of the day you secretly wished the moon, the stories you wanted to know and share every little thing
I hope that the story contained in the work will freely project, sympathize with, and appreciate the memories of the viewers, and I hope everyone who sees the painting will be happy.
In addition to the painting depicting the panda as the main character in the memories of the moment that passed, it presents an abstract expression of the night sky. On a dark night, you can see the moon grant a wish in the night sky in the mountains of Gangwon-do, where there is no common street lamp, and the artist's sensibility to express it with the emotion of the artist who grew up watching countless stars twinkling like pouring. After remembering the happy, sometimes lonely, and tired times, we who have to shine alone again come to the conclusion that we are the dusts of the universe, who resemble the night sky stars in life.
Stars are graded from first to sixth stars, depending on the brightness they see from Earth. This is a rating given by Earth and humans, and the brightness rating will not matter from the star's point of view.
The sun may not be a very bright star when viewed from somewhere in the universe outside the solar system. However, the sun is essential to the planets in the solar system, including the Earth we live on.
Like stars in the universe, we are sometimes evaluated as if we are graded by someone. We realize that the gaze and evaluation around us are not important, and we draw pictures in the hope that we will live our lives thinking about the brightness of the person that the family around us and the people we love perceive me as. I hope that the artist's supportive paintings will give strength to the pandas on their journey to find their own light and brightness.
Things I make by hand, including paintings, contain energy. Even if it takes a little more time, I want to consistently present my work with a unique technique that contains value and energy, and draw a picture that can empathize and communicate with visitors.
