About
The small miracles in daily life that we enjoy meeting nature are no longer natural for us living in the midst of COVID-19 and climate crisis. By themselves, such nature includes both objects and humans.
We are going to exhibit 13 years of work such as a photo diary recorded by working on the awe of everyday life with a photo transcription technique called scanography. In the meantime, it has been transformed in various contents and methods.
Through the story of my grandfather, not anyone else, and my family history, I try to overlap and uncover the memories, wounds, fate, and history that span me, us, and everyone on the Korean Peninsula.
Following the route of the grandfather brothers who defected to North Korea, we draw plant coordinates from Andong Naejeon Village to Inje Seohwa-ri DMZ. In particular, it focuses on the materialization of wild plants on the way where the southern and northern marginal plants of Inje Seohwa-ri and Daeamsan Mountain meet.
This place, which has not been visited by humans for more than 70 years since the armistice, has become a natural ecological paradise, paradoxically disproving human traces. The record of the state coordinates where the history and fate of individuals and countries intersect is my 'most common thing'.
