About
the month after the end of the year
The moon the monkey looks at and tries to catch is a virtual image reflected in the water. He forgets his place, is blinded by greed, tries to catch the moon, and eventually falls into the water and dies.
Is the moon you see a virtual image in the water or a substance that can be reached?
The idiom describes a foolish monkey who caught the moon reflected in the water, and on the contrary, the original Chinese character describes the moon as a monkey that won the moon.
Through the ambivalence that contains such conflicting interpretations in a single idiom at the same time, I faced human life struggling toward the achievement of an ideal that may or may not be reached.
The "Burning" series, which is currently being introduced, is based on the realization of reaching true ideals by emptying oneself beyond the ambition for physical achievement.
As if lightning spreads along with the five colors and a splendid image unfolds as if dancing. However, this does not express a specific form such as lightning, but symbolizes the inner flames of reaching true ideals by scratching one's own dizzy thoughts.
This is the process of training that deviates from being obsessed or trapped by a certain shape and fully accepts all the time that comes and the flow of nature. It is a struggle to face a better ideal by abandoning me.
If I burn the dizzy picture drawn in my heart and make it blank, what kind of scenery will God draw on it? The coincidence we faced then is inevitable, and the true style that we faced beyond our respective destiny. I think it will be a moment of encountering a true ideal.
Scratch drawing, expressed on an aluminum iron plate, is the result of interpreting the shape of a burning fire containing the moonlight and afterimage reflected in the water in an ancient idiom as the artist's concept of sculpture. The geometric scratch line freely expressed on the iron plate according to the visible position and angle made it look mysterious by absorbing and reflecting light, and through this, it was intended to show the artist's unique conceptual beauty. In addition, this is the energy of life that our mankind has and the main point of power that captures every moment of the writer's own passionate life toward the ideal.

It is said that the source of wisdom begins with emptying itself.
I ask the audience a question about the final destination we run to longing for. What is waiting for me beyond this time of patience, imprinted on an iron plate.
Even today, by burning myself with scratches, I take a step closer to the ideal I longed for.
